During my recent vacation in France, I had the opportunity to visit the most beautiful Christmas markets in France. The largest Christmas market is actually located in Strasbourg and Alsace’s second most visited Christmas is in Colmar (southern Alsace).
This charming little town is well known because of its rich medieval architecture, the little Venice is one of the must-see districts.
If you want to enjoy a smaller Christmas market you will love the very authentic one of Kaysersberg. The streets of the old town are beautifully decorated and you can treat yourself with floral art, pottery and for the foodies, gingerbread, mulled wine or bredalas (Christmas biscuits from Alsace).
The most picturesque will be the Christmas market of Riquewihr. This old town has a typical architectural heritage but is often crowded during the holidays. However, Riquewihr is a living symbol of Alsace, you will absolutely love to stroll in the narrow streets of this fortified wine making village.
Last but not least, in Lorraine the Christmas market at Plombières-les-Bains is worth the trip. You get there the typical atmosphere of Lorraine with dazzling costumes and magnificent decorations.
